Introducing LightShare Technology from Magne Metaverse!

LightShare is a ground-breaking new technology from Magne Metaverse Research that - for the first time in any virtual world - allows region owners to share their environmental settings with their visitors.

What does this mean?  Well, now region owners can fully customise their regions' environment - sky, water, clouds - and create amazing, mindblowing visuals or even more subtle changes to liven the mood.

LightShare was introduced into Meta7 on December 25th, 2009 and is available for you to experience right now! We created a special Region with some particularly groovy environmental settings to show you just one example of what is possible.

To experience LightShare you must have the meta7 Viewer installed available from download.meta7.com. Once installed, come and visit the LightShare Region.

Make sure you have "Basic Shaders" and "Atmospheric Shaders" turned on in your viewer's graphics preferences. We have setup a video stream on the LightShare region for you to show you what it's supposed to look like - so, if you see the same thing, your viewer is fully LightShare compatible! If you have problems watching videos inworld, please see this forum topic!

And that's not all - LightShare is presented in a fully scriptable interface. It's even possible to target LightShare settings at particular users. For example, a roleplay environment could make a certain users' world go dark when they die. Or you can give people an entirely different environmental experience depending on where they are in the sim!

How to use LightShare

Currently, you must use a script to upload LightShare settings - although we're working at building a windlight settings upload feature into the website.

Please see the pages for our special LightShare functions for details on how to use each one:
